Secret Santa Fic Exchange Guidelines1. The It’s Always the Quiet Ones Secret Santa Fic Exchange is open to all participants who are interested in the Draco/Hermione, Hermione/Blaise, Blaise/Draco, or Blaise/Draco/Hermione pairing. 2. This is a fic exchange. Therefore, all participants must fulfill their end of the bargain by completing their fic request. If you are unable to write a fic in return, please do not request a gift. However, everyone is invited to join and watch/lurk at the Quiet Ones community, and to read all the fic gifts when they are finally posted in December. If you join the community but do not wish to participate in the gift exchange, you can still post reviews, suggestions, comments, etc. 3. To participate, you must either copy and paste the application forms (the template is below) in a comment below or email the application forms to Inell@aol.com. The application information will consist of your LJ names (if applicable), email address, and the plot and rating requests as well as the pairings you are available to write etc, keeping in mind that the pairing must be either Draco/Hermione, Hermione/Blaise, Blaise/Draco/Hermione or Blaise/Draco. The fic requests and gifts do not necessarily have to center around a Christmas theme, although you may do so if you wish. This is a Secret Santa Fic Exchange so you will not know who is writing your gift until all the entries are received and posted in December. 4. All participants must sign up and submit their requests by no later than September 30th, 2004 at 12 am EST. This is to allow for sufficient time to complete their Secret Santa fic gifts. 5. A list of all participants will be posted up after the last fic request has been submitted. If possible, please do not ask anyone from the group to beta for you, as your surprise fic gift might actually be meant for them. 6. All fics have no limit on length, but must be at least 1,000 words to ensure that they are not just drabbles and have enough room for the plot requests to develop. If you are over 17, you may request for fics of R or NC-17 ratings. Conversely, you may also be asked to write fic gifts of those ratings. However, if you are under 17, you may only request and will only be asked to write fics of up to PG-13 ratings. We’re sorry about this, and thank you for your understanding. 7. All completed fics must be e-mailed to inell@aol.com by no later than November 30th, 2004 at 12 a.m. EST. Submission extensions on a case-by-case basis will be considered for those participants who have contacted us privately beforehand via e-mail or IM informing us of their inability to meet the required deadline. Please note that extension requests must be sent to the mods at least a week before the deadline to give us sufficient time to make the necessary arrangements. We may call for back-up authors if needed. However, you may submit the completed fics earlier than the November 30th deadline to Inell@aol.com. She will save the gifts and post them at the appropriate time to the community. Fics will begin being posted in mid-November and will be posted through the month of December. 8. Fic submissions should be read through. We do not demand that your English and grammar be perfect, but since you are writing for someone else as a gift, the recipients will expect fics of a certain quality. If you with to use a beta and have problems finding one, then don't hesitate to contact either Inell@aol.com or Jess_Lovecat@yahoo.com through e-mail or IM -- we'll gladly help you find someone to beta for you. 9. All fic submissions will remain exclusive to this community until the authors are revealed. This will happen a day after the last gift has been posted. All fic submissions will be archived at the official site for the community, It’s Always the Quiet Ones. By participating, you are giving permission for your fic to be posted at the site. Inell will begin posting the fics she has received in mid-November through the month of December so that gifts are received in the holiday season. 10. HOW IT WORKS: Just to clarify, participants will not be choosing which fic requests they will write. Instead, after the last fic request is submitted and a final list of participants is posted up, the mods will assign fic requests to individual participants according to what they've stated they are willing to write. Participants will receive their assignments via e-mail. Remember, the game is run as a Secret Santa Exchange, so participants will not know who is writing for them until their gift is posted. Please do not sign up to participate if you are unable to write a gift in return.
